What is a dosha?
In Vedic astrology a dosha is a planetary combination in the birth chart that tradition associates with obstacles in a particular area of life. Doshas are read in the context of the whole chart: many have cancellation conditions, and their intensity varies with the strength of the planets involved. Remedies such as pooja, mantra and charity are traditional practices meant to support you, not guarantees.
The doshas you can check
- Mangal Dosha (Manglik, Kuja Dosha): Mars in certain houses, traditionally checked before marriage.
- Kaal Sarp Dosha: all seven planets placed between Rahu and Ketu.
- Pitra Dosha: an affliction associated with ancestors, read mainly from the Sun and the 9th house.
- Sade Sati: Saturn's roughly 7½-year transit around your Moon sign.
- Pooja suggestions: remedies recommended from your chart as a whole.
