What is Mangal Dosha?
Mangal Dosha, also called Kuja Dosha or being Manglik, is traditionally present when Mars occupies the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house of the birth chart. Many South Indian astrologers also include the 2nd house. Most astrologers check from the ascendant, and many check from the Moon and Venus too.
It is traditionally considered in Kundli matching. The classical texts list many cancellations, for example when both partners are Manglik, or when Mars is in its own or exaltation sign. That is why a Manglik result is a starting point for interpretation, not a judgement.
