About Aries (Mesha) in Vedic astrology
Aries is called Mesha in Sanskrit, and its symbol is the Ram. In Vedic astrology it is a fire sign of movable quality (Chara), and its ruling planet, or sign lord, is Mars.
The sign lord matters when you read a horoscope: how Mars is placed and moving colours the themes of the sign. In a personal chart the same is true for any house that Mesha occupies.

Is Aries my sign?
Horoscopes by sign are usually read by Moon sign in Vedic astrology, and by Sun sign in Western astrology. Because Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, someone who is Aries in Western astrology is often the previous sign in Vedic astrology. Your Kundli shows your Moon sign and ascendant precisely.
